Z & C Purlins

Z & C Purlins

Z & C Purlins serve as essential components in agricultural, industrial, and commercial projects, offering sturdy secondary beam support for various roofing and cladding applications. Designed to accommodate spans of up to 10.0m, these light gauge steel sections are indispensable for ensuring structural integrity and longevity. UPS provides Z & C Purlins in a range of thicknesses (1.50mm to 3mm) of galvanized steel, suitable for supporting roof sheets, vertical wall cladding, or in conjunction with our built-up system. Leveraging state-of-the-art supply equipment, we can efficiently deliver lengths of up to 12m, meeting the requirements of diverse construction projects. Purlins (roof) or side rails (walls) can be connected using either a sleeved or butted system, offering flexibility and strength tailored to project needs.

Sleeved:

  • This system is utilized in buildings with three or more bays.
  • The sleeve rests on the cleat and connects two Z Purlins on a single plate.
  • This enhances the strength and rigidity of the structure.

Butted:

  • This system is employed for structures with small spans or light loadings, or when the application does not allow the use of a sleeve, such as within the web of the rafter.
  • At UPS, we offer a comprehensive range of standard sections for all your new build projects. Additionally, we possess the capability to match existing designs for refurbishments or extensions.

Material Specification:

  • ASTM A653 Grade 50 (New ASTM Standard)
  • ASTM A446 Grade ‘D’ G90 (Old ASTM Standard)
  • BS EN 10147 S350GD Z275 MAC.

With a minimum yield strength of 350 N/mm2, our Z & C Purlins guarantee reliability and durability for every application.
