Electrogalvanized sheet is produced by electroplating a pure zinc coating onto one or both sides of a carbon steel plate. This continuous electrolytic coating process ensures a uniformly thick coating, resulting in a smooth, matte appearance similar to cold rolled sheet. The high-quality surface is ideal for applications requiring a polished finish post-painting, such as automotive exposed panels. Precise control over the coating thickness enhances forming and joining operations, particularly in automated and robotic welding systems. Both zinc and zinc-iron electrogalvanized coatings are paintable, but pretreatment and priming of the coated-steel surface are necessary for optimal corrosion resistance before applying the final paint coat.
Electro Galvanized Steel Sheet Properties:
The mechanical properties of electrogalvanized sheet closely resemble those of the equivalent grade of cold rolled sheet since the steel coils undergo pre-annealing before electroplating. With the appropriate die material and clearances, the stamping performance of both products is comparable.
- Uniform distribution of an extremely thin zinc coating.
- Spangle-free surface.
- Easy weldability.
- Excellent paint adhesion.
